Lair Visit

Andy's cousin, Susanna, and her boyfriend Cliff were visiting from California this weekend. So we went to Andy's parent's house to visit with them. We all had dinner together and had a wonderful time! Some more than others (Andy drank a lot too much wine and paid for it).

As you can tell from the pictures, Madeline hardly got any attention at all.

She just keeps getting cuter every day. She really watches us now and imitates what we are doing. I was cleaning the floor the other day and she bent down and wiped the floor with her hand like she was cleaning. It's just amazing how much she is learning and changing everyday. I can ask her to do simple things and she understands and does them.

She's giving lots of kisses away now too. She clobbered me one day with about 15 in a row, open mouth slobbery ones, of course. Sometimes I can ask for one and she'll give it to me. I love it!

The weekend started out good, but....

So we had a pretty decent weekend overall, but it could have been better. Friday night Andy was working late. He was working down at my location which is only 1 mile from our house, so Madeline and I went to pick him up at the office. She loved running around the office halls and seeing what she could get into. And Andy appreciated his surprise visitors. :) Probably because we saved him from having to walk home with his 30 pound briefcase in 90 degree weather.

Then Saturday morning, my family drove up to visit. We went to a local park and played around for a bit. It was kinda tough to make it fun for Madeline. Normally she LOVES it, but she seemed a bit off that day. It didn't matter, it was time to head back home for some lunch. After that and playing around the house, it was naptime for M and my folks headed back home. When Madeline got up, we headed out for some errands and a local splash park. We had just made it to the park when Madeline got sick, still in her car seat. It was all over her and the seat. And she kept getting sick. It was awful and we were a good 15 minutes away from home. We decided the best course of action was just to get home as soon as we could. The poor thing ended up getting sick again once we were home. Other than that though, she was acting completely fine and didn't have a fever. We got her cleaned up and she was busily playing with her toys. She went to bed without a hitch.

Poor Andy had planned to go to the Crew soccer game with some friends that night, but those plans fell through at the last minute. So instead he was cleaning up puke out of a car seat. Not the night he had planned, that's for sure.

I wasn't feeling too well myself. Fortunately, I never got sick like M. But we both definitely picked up something. The bug never hit Andy. So on Sunday, we decided to just stay home and take it easy. Madeline slept alot, didn't eat much and was kinda cranky, but otherwise was doing well. I felt awful in the morning and got better as the day progressed. We both stayed on the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apples, toast) for the day. I think normally she would hate this, so I was a little worried how she would do with it. But she did fine. She would eat a little bit and then be off to play.

Being sick is definitely not fun, but it was nice getting the extra love and hugs from Madeline. Normally she is a crazy toddler now, running around until she passes out. But today she was all about cuddling. Andy and I both enjoyed it. :)

BIG Weekend!

We found out we are having another girl!! It's going to be so much fun having two little girls so close together. Here she is....

We just started discussing names today, so no we don't have a list yet. We have one name that we both really like so far, but we aren't sharing yet. :) Hmm, maybe we'll keep this a secret until she's born. We'll need to come up with a better nickname than Guido for the rest of the pregnancy. That is what she's been called up to this point (don't ask why, we are strange). Madeline's nickname was Wade.

In other Baby Lair news, I think I started feeling her kick today. It was two different times, once while I was still lying in bed this morning and the other right after dinner. They were very faint and if I didn't already know what it felt like, I would totally have missed it. So maybe I'll get to feel her from here on out! Yay!

Now on to Madeline.....She had some excitement herself with her first haircut. We've been letting it grow out but she refuses to keep anything in her hair to keep it out of her eyes. So we had to do something. She looks so cute that I wish we would have done this sooner!

This is her "before" picture, literally. They have a little play area for the kids while you wait for your appointment. She LOVED the slide.

Here she is in her chair. Brillant idea to have TV's for the kids to watch! It helped distract her. They asked what her favorite show was and then put a DVD of that show on for her.

She did so well! Not one tear. Although she got a little weirded out every once-in-a-while.

All done! She wouldn't look at me so this was the best I could get.

Taking a walk

We took Madeline to the park yesterday and this time we let her run around with us instead of strapping her in the stroller. SHE LOVED IT!!

The other day she got ahold of my sunglasses. She won't keep them on for more than 3 seconds, but she likes to take them on and off.

Funny story

So Madeline was playing around in her toy bin in the living room. Meanwhile, Andy and I were in the dining room on the computer so we couldn’t see her. Madeline starts to cry but I don’t go to her right away because I wanted to finish looking at something on the computer. That and because she had been crying ALL DAY due to her 1 year molars coming in, so I didn’t think it was a big deal. (OMG, she was a nightmare.) Anyway, so I finally go check on her 30 seconds later after she REALLY starts crying and the poor thing is stuck upside down in the toy bin. She had reached in to get something and got toppled over. Her feet were in the air kicking. She was NOT a happy camper but I couldn’t help but laugh at her.

Big Annoucement

Madeline is excited to announce that she has a baby brother or sister on the way!

I'm 13 weeks along already and due January 29th. Yes, this will be 2 under 2 for us. Madeline will be 20 months old when the new little one arrives. No, we aren't crazy. :) We are very excited and can't wait to bring a new bundle of joy into our family.

As for how I've been feeling, pretty good for the most part. I've had extreme tiredness and nausea which is to be expected, but it wasn't as bad as when I was pregnant with Madeline. So that was nice. The sick feeling finally has passed pretty much starting this week. And I feel like I have some energy back too! I had my 3 month appointment today and all is well. The baby's heartbeat was around 150 bpm. Madeline's was always around 155 bpm, so another girl??? Who knows. We'll find out soone enough.

Swimming with Daddy

Andy got in the pool with Madeline this week. Her mood started out not happy as you can see in this first picture.


But once she got to "jump" in from the side, she was having a blast.

At the end of class, Madeline got dunked. She did great with it!

Stories

When I dropped Madeline off at daycare this morning, I was sitting with her in the play area of her room. Her teacher was in the kitchenette and she asked Madeline if she wanted something to eat. Madeline immediately looked up and did her hand waving sign (that’s her “more” sign when eating), smiled and then took off for the table. It was the cutest darn thing. She pulled her own chair out and sat right down. That morning they were having Raisin Bran and she ate it up.

She has also started quacking at animals. I started reading “Five Little Ducks” to her a few weeks ago and she would quack along with me as I read. Now she quacks at everything. She knows it’s an animal sound but she hasn’t distinguished it as only a duck sound. I told her teachers about this and they were glad I said something. Otherwise, they said they might have thought she was choking on something. Hahaha

Swim Lessons

We took Madeline to her first swim lessons today. As soon as we walked into the place, she had this scared look on her face. When we got in the pool, she DID NOT like it at all. She wanted to cry but fortunately didn't.

We worked on doing the two moves we were told to do....floating on her back and floating on her stomach. She basically just tolerated both.

After about 20 minutes, she started to get a bit more comfortable and used to it. Then the instructor had the babies "jump" off the side of the pool after a count of 3. Madeline wouldn't stand up, so I basically counted to 3 and grabbed her into the pool. This was her turning point and she LOVED it! This picture is kinda blurry, but she has a huge smile on her face.

It's Andy's turn to get in the pool next weekend. He is really looking forward to it!

Hide and Seek

Madeline plays this game with us now. It is hysterical and so much fun until she does it 50 times in a row. She likes to go “hide” in the bathroom off the kitchen and wait for us to find her. And then when we do, she cracks up with excitement. We carry her back to the living room for her to do it all over again. I’ll have to get some video of this!

She is also becoming very polite. She is starting to say Thank You or “tank choo” as she pronounces it. She doesn’t always use it in context, but when she does, it’s the cutest darn thing.

Daycare Pictures
