Game Day!

Go Bucks! We went to the game today and had an awesome time. It was our first time. We had never even gone down around campus on a game day so the whole thing was a new experience. I can't believe the spectacle everything is! And they do this for every home game!

This is the infamous Heinygate. It's a big area right by the stadium with a stage, big screens, beer and food. What more could you ask for? People go here that don't have tickets to the game and just hang out all day.

Our seats are great (we have them for every home game this year)! We are at the north end of the field right next to the tunnel where the band walks in. And we are in the first row of our section. Look at our view!

Last Mommy Gathering

On Friday I attended what was probably my last Mommy/Baby get-together in awhile. It was at my friend, Sarah's, house and they usually do these things during the day. It was fun seeing some of the new faces as well as the other girls and their super cute babies. It's neat seeing how much the babies have grown since the last time I saw them!

I only got one picture while I was there. This was about half of the babies but it was too funny how they were all lined up. I had to edit out one of the kids because her mom doesn't like her picture shown online, so that is what the blue box is for. I have no idea what Madeline thought was so funny.

A fun night!

So tonight we attended our first function at school as parents. M's daycare had a Meet & Greet night with all the parents and teachers. First, they had us all gather to introduce the teachers and tell us the goals for the year. That part was too funny because as you can imagine, the babies/kids weren't to quiet and receptive to sitting in one place for to long. After that, they had pizza, cookies and drinks for us and we mingled with the other parents. It was fun to meet the parents that I pass in the hall in the mornings and afternoons.

By the time we got home, it was just about time for her bath. She doesn't like the scrubbing part too much, but she loves when we rinse her off with the shower head. It cracks us up because all she wants to do is taste and drink the water. Her little tongue just stays out there licking it up. The pictures don't do it justice. We'll need to get this on video.

We have tickets!!

We are going to our first OSU football game this weekend! Yes, you read that right. Our FIRST game. We've never been and Andy got really good students tickets. From the stadium map, our seat location looks great! We are by one of the end zones, but we are pretty close to the field so we should have a great view. I'm getting really excited!! GO BUCKS!!!

Andy's aunt Patty made this for his nursery when he was a baby and now Julia gave it to us to put in Madeline's nursery. It is hand-stitched. I love it!

Last week of part-time work

Well, my extended maternity leave is about over. I came back to work at the beginning of September and have only been working 3 days per week. Starting next week, I'm back to full-time. Boo!

Lucky for me, there is a Mommy/Kid get-together planned for this Friday and of course I'm going. I'm really excited that I get to go to one more before I'm full-time again. Madeline attended her first one when she was only 3 weeks old. Now she'll be close to 4 months! Wow how time flies!

Look at my big girl!

She's sitting in her new highchair. We aren't quite ready to feed her cereal yet, but I was at the store so I went ahead and picked one up. We have no room for a regular, stand-alone highchair so we got a space-saver model that sits on one of our dining room chairs. I think she likes it.

Anyone know a Rabbit Hunter?

We have a rabbit living in our yard that taunts our dogs. He'll come out of his hiding spot even when the dogs are in the yard. Then they go crazy and the rabbit goes hoppin' away. Then Miles spends the next 8 hours sniffing the yard like a lunatic, calling out the whole time. This rabbit is even there first thing in the morning. And I don't think the neighbor's appreciate Miles calling out at 6 in the morning.

So do you know anyone looking for a good rabbit roast for dinner?

For the love of god, please sleep!

This week has been awful. Not only is Madeline still getting up for a bottle in the middle of the night, but she's been restless at all hours too. Especially last night. She kept waking up and rolling over onto her stomach, which she HATES. So she would scream until we flipped her back over. We need to work with her on rolling back the other way so she doesn't need us everytime.

This extra lack of sleep is really getting to me though. My body just feels out of whack and I feel sick to my stomach. Thank god I'm off work tomorrow! You better believe I'm sleeping in as long as she'll let me.

To end this post on a positive note, we had such a good time with her last night BEFORE bedtime. We were sitting outside on the deck playing and she was laughing and giggling and just having a great time. I would have stood on my head while patting my tummy and eating a popsicle if she would have giggled more. It was a blast!

New haircut

I needed a trim and went short. What do you think? I really like it and, surprisingly, Andy does too.

Weekend Re-cap

So it started out with me still recovering from an awful stomach virus. I suppose I better get used to being sick all the time with Madeline at daycare now. Unfortunately because of that, I missed an awesome party at my friend, Jan’s, house. Instead I was passed out on the couch by 7pm and in bed by 9pm. We weren’t even sure we were going to make our trip to Cincy on Saturday, but I thought I felt well enough to go and I’m glad we went. First up was my cousin-in-law, Beth’s, baby shower. She looked super cute! You can barely tell she has a baby belly in this picture.

Maura, Katie and Laura did a great job hosting! Look how cute the decorations were.

Great Grandma Lewis was all decked out in her Notre Dame gear. Yes folks, she left the festivities promptly at 3:30pm to go watch her Irishmen beat M_ch_g_n.

Beth got a lot of great gifts but I couldn’t believe the clothes she got. I swear, every.single.thing was blue/brown with a puppy on it. Seriously!

Here Madeline is playing Zander, my cousin's son. So I don't know what that makes him to Madeline???

Then after the shower, Madeline and I headed back to Andy’s parent’s house. Andy and I left the baby with them and went to Uno’s for some dinner, to watch the big game and actually spend some time together alone. I wasn’t feeling too good again so I didn’t get anything to eat. But it was still nice to sit with Andy and talk without being interrupted. Once the game started, then I really wasn’t feeling good. We left after the first quarter and watched the rest at his parent’s house. What an awful game that was…..and we still had another one to watch on Sunday that was sure to be another big disappointment.

Sunday started out nice. Madeline was in a good mood despite being restless all night and Julia made us a delicious breakfast. Her breakfasts are always the best!! After hanging out for a bit, we were off to my Italian Grandma’s house for some good spaghetti eatin’ and to watch the Bengals game. My aunt also brought some really good wine for us to drink. It was a great visit! While we were there, the wind storm started and knocked the power out. It was probably a good thing so we didn’t have to watch the Bengals lose so badly. It’s going to be a rough season with them.

Crazy wind storm

Before I get to my weekend re-cap, let me cover the crazy wind storm we had here on Sunday. It was caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ike passing by.....we had record 75 mph gusts and sustained 30 mph winds. Craziness!! There were power lines and trees down everywhere. We were in Cincinnati when it started and had to drive home in it. I was worried about what we would come home to but fortunately it wasn't too bad.

We lost a tree. It was pretty sad looking to begin with.

And a huge branch fell, just missing our shed. That was it.


We never lost power so I'm super thankful for that. More than half of our county did. And both of our parents are still without power today, 3 days later.

She rolled over!!

She was being fussy in her crib and whenever she does that, she rocks back and forth on her sides. I went in to get her and she was completely on her left side almost rolled over but the side of the crib was blocking her. So I moved her over and waited to see if she would roll over completely and she did! I don't think she really knew what she did because once I got her up and changed, she wouldn't do it again. She just layed there and looked at me like, "What?"

We are sick :(

Wah! I really hate being sick, but I guess who doesn't, right? I'm just not used to it because I never get sick. Andy has a scratchy throat and a head cold. I woke up this morning feeling like I could hurl any second. It took awhile, but I finally did and I felt a little better. I took a nap and then tried to eat something since I hadn't all day but now I feel sick again. Ugh!

Andy stayed home today to help me with the baby. I don't know how I could take care of her with the way I'm feeling. Sitting still keeps the ickiness away. I just hope I'm better by tomorrow and Andy doesn't get worse. We have a huge, busy weekend planned.

Her cheekies are going to take over the Earth

Okay, so maybe not really. But it's so funny when people see Madeline for the first time in awhile. They always comment on how big her cheeks are. She's definitely storing nuts in the there for the winter, that's for sure!

No more 'Rito

She doesn’t need her swaddle anymore to sleep. That’s what we called her when she was all swaddled up at night for bed. She looked like a little burrito so we called her our Little ‘Rito. It was so funny seeing her all wrapped up like that with just her head sticking out. But I guess she likes the freedom because now she sleeps completely splayed out. hahaha

Fall is in the air

I love it! Yes, I do love the warm, even hot, weather. But after awhile, even I get sick of it. These cool mornings have been so nice. And now with football season here, I just want to curl up on the couch with a warm blanket and watch the games.

Not sure if I want to watch the Bengals all season though. If today's game was any indication, this is going to be a long one.

Madeline has spirit!

My baby is sick

Sheesh! That didn't take long. She must have picked something up from daycare. Fortunately she isn't running a fever but she is super congested. She probably just sounds worse than she feels. But I hate listening to her trying to breathe.

Three Months Old!

Wow! My sweet baby is three months old! She just gets bigger and more interactive each and every day. She just started noticing her feet but they only hold her attention for a few seconds. She also really likes Peek-a-boo. She just cracks up! We'll try to get that on video soon if we can.





She's starting to grasp and really hold on to things now too. She'll hold onto her rattle and try to eat it.

I just love this blog! It cracks me up. For those of you that don't know what it is, people submit pictures of dogs with captions. The captions are written like they sound...so if it looks weird, sound it out and you'll get it.

Daycare is going well

Mom and Dad had a hard time leaving her on her first day, but she didn't seem to mind. Her teacher said she didn't cry at all. She ate well and took really good naps. She also had a note on her sheet that said, "She played very well." hahaha

It's gotten easier and easier to leave her there every day. It's so fun going to pick her up and seeing what she is up to. The first day she was on the floor with one of the helpers playing with a toy. Yesterday she was just getting up from a nap. I can't wait to see what she's doing today.

Happy Labor Day!

What a gorgeous weekend!! And a busy one too which is why I'm so late posting about it. Saturday I went to a local fair and saw a friend of mine's daughter in a beauty pagent. She did a great job and looked beautiful! Then we got corndog's for lunch. I haven't had one of those in ages. Good stuff!

Sunday our parents came up for a grill out. It was an awesome day and I wish we could do it more often. We sat out in the backyard the whole time and Madeline was the main source of entertainment, of course. For dinner we had shish kabobs, potato casserole, tomato salad and then angel food cake with strawberries and cool whip for dessert. It was just a great day.

Then Monday I started out the day getting my butt kicked! It was bootcamp with my trainer, Nancy. She does weekend group bootcamp sessions at a local park. I was exhausted at the end. Once I recovered, I spent the afternoon getting our closets cleaned out. I got my maternity clothes organized and put away in the basement and then did the same with clothes Madeline has grown out of. Then we got all her things ready for her first day at daycare and before we knew it, the day was over.
