The Little Gym

We went to a birthday party at The Little Gym yesterday and had a blast!! I couldn't wait to get out of the house and do something fun and I knew Madeline would just love it. I think a few people thought I was crazy to bring Sophia there, but she was fine bundled in the sling the whole time. Unfortunately, I'm not healed enough to chase Madeline around a place like this, so Andy did that.

This was a big, bouncy area. Madeline LOVED this and was the first one on.

Then she tried out the balance beam.

This was fun too. She got to roll on the big wheel and then do a sumersault off the other side.

Bubble Time! This was the only group activity she cared to partake in.

We had a great time and I'm definitely keeping this place in mind for birthday parties for Madeline and Sophia.

One Week Update

Sophia is 7 days old today. We went to the doctor for a check-up, and for the most part, she is doing really well. She weighs 6 lbs. 3 oz. which is 2 oz. higher than her discharge weight. So she gained, but it wasn't much for 4 days time. And she hasn't been pooping as much as she should. So we have to go back on Wednesday for them to monitor these things.

As for me, I'm doing as well as can be expected. I'm off my pain pills, so that's good. I still have pain, but I can manage. Breastfeeding is going okay. In the hospital, it was going great. But once we got home, it has been a struggle since. I'm doing my best to stick it out.

Also, I have my old circulation back. I hate it. When I was pregnant, the cold weather didn't bother me at all. Now I'm back to being cold all the time. Phooey.

This weekend, we had alot of visitors. Unfortunately, no one got to see Sophia awake.

Good thing I took some pictures of her earlier when she was awake. How cute is she? She looks so much like Madeline when she was a baby.

Going Home

Sophia and I came home from the hospital today. I can't believe how well I am doing compared to last time. So far, my recovery has been a breeze. And breastfeeding has been going really well too!

Sophia's Birthday

Sophia Marie arrived into this world on January 25th at 7:55am. She weighed 6 pounds, 14 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. Below are pictures telling her birth story.

Here was one last belly shot.

We are ready to go (at 5 o'clock in the morning) and have this baby.

When we got to the hospital, I was hooked up to the monitors while various people came and went and asked me tons of questions.

Then it was time and Andy got suited up.

After only a brief period of time in surgery, Sophia was born. She screamed at first but then was mostly quiet. And she has been pretty quiet for the most part. Hopefully this continues. :)

Madeline Funnies

I haven't posted video clips in a long time, mostly because they are kind of a pain. But these stories couldn't be told. They had to be seen to do them justice.

So Madeline obviously knows her name, but she can't say it yet. Instead, she's calls herself "that's you." For example, the other night we were doing a video call with my parents. Madeline began naming everyone on the screen. She points and says, "No-no (that's what she calls my Mom instead of Nonna), Papa, that's you and Momma." When she said "that's you" she was pointing at herself. It's hilarious! Obviously I said that too much to her instead of using her name. Here she is pointing out people in her photo book.




Then we were playing with her See n' Say the other night making animal sounds. When we asked her what a pig says, she sang "La, La, La." Andy and I cracked up laughing! We have this book called Moo, Baa, La La La that has animal sounds and the pigs sing La, La, La. So she is right. Kinda of. hahahaha

Big News!

Madeline went # 1 and # 2 on the potty at daycare today for the first time ever. How exciting!

Hopefully she keeps going. I would love to not have 2 kids in diapers at the same time.

Big Girl Bed a Success, Hair Cut Not So Much

We moved Madeline to a big girl bed this weekend and OMG she loves it!! It's not an actual bed because we are severely limited on space. So we just put her mattress on the floor with a comforter and a pillow. When we first took her to bed on the first night, we've never seen her so happy. It was hilarious. She kept laying on it and then jumping up screaming "Woah!" with delight. She asks to go night-night now when it isn't time for bed. hahaha

On another note, we've been trying to grow her hair out. Her bangs were getting really long and we've been struggling with ways to keep them out of her eyes (barrettes, hair ties) but she won't cooperate. Anything we put in her hair, she pulls right back out. Finally I couldn't stand it anymore and we decided to cut her bangs. However, we thought we'd give it a try and do it ourselves. Umm, yeah. So I guess this is why you pay the professionals. Thank god she is still young and doesn't know any better. Hopefully her boyfriend, Leo, still talks to her at school tomorrow.

It will grow fast, right?

37 Week Update

Look at that belly! Even my doctor commented today how far my belly is sticking out. Sometimes when the baby is turned a certain way, I feel like I can hold her in my hands.

This week's appointment went well and everything is looking good. My blood pressure is perfect and I actually lost a pound. The only things to complain about are typical last-month stuff.....back hurts, tired all the time, can't sleep because I'm up to pee every 1.5 hours, my legs hurt when I lay for too long and I'm congested all the time. Only 17 days left and yes I'm counting every one!

Happy New Year!

We didn't stay up until midnight to celebrate, so we partied during breakfast on New Year's Day.

Then Andy took her out to play in the snow. Don't worry, we had her bundled in her snow suit and boots. She looks like the kid from the "Christmas Story" movie, doesn't she? She did fall down at one point and started crying because she couldn't get back up. hahaha Actually, I think she could have gotten up, but she was being stubborn and refused to try.

Her favorite part was the ride in her new wagon.

2010 looks bright for the Lair Family! We have lots of plans along with lots of good changes for our family. For one, we are looking forward to moving into a bigger house. Good lord do we need the space! But first up, we are beyond excited to welcome our newest addition to our family in only a few short weeks. Yes, it's going to be a great year!

36 week update

I'm nearing the end and I feel like it too. Christmas week was definitely a turning point in how I'm feeling. No position is comfortable anymore. I'm surrounded by pillows on the couch and it doesn't matter. Even laying in bed isn't comfortable anymore. Ugh. I vaguely remember this from when I was pregnant with Madeline. The last month is the worst. I was out of work by 37 weeks last time, but I plan on making it the whole way this time around. I think I can do it! Walking around work is so hard now though. The other day, it took me 11 minutes to walk from my cube to my car. Not cool. My doctor wrote me a note at my appointment this week, so I'll get a close medical parking spot for these last 3 weeks I'm at work. Yes, only 3 more weeks! Eeek!!


At least I made it this far wearing my wedding band. I had to take off my engagement ring at least a month or so ago, but I could still wear my band. Well not anymore. That couldn't possibly have anything to do with all the Christmas cookies that I ate. Nope, not at all.

Actually, I do weigh less than I did at this time with Madeline. But not by much....only 2 pounds according to my doctor. That is surprising because I feel like I look alot better this time around. I don't know. If I can remember, I'll try to get one more belly shot soon.
